Morphica is an Italian small company specialized in 3D printing founded in 2017 with headquarters in Monopoli, Bari, Italy. Morphica’s aims to develop, promote and disseminate additive manufacturing technology in Italy and worldwide. The company is a retailer of AM product and tools and is also defined as a service provider of additive manufacturing by offering complementary services. As a service provider, the core business of the company is the production of 3D printed parts. They produce mainly polymeric parts with industrial and desktop machines and they support their customer during the phases of concept, design and production of 3D parts. Morever Morphica provides training and consultancy to small companies and professional users for 3D printing. Additionally, Morphica provides indirect services: a type of sales through affiliated customers who own printers sold by Morphica. There is also a synergy of four distinct players: creators of 3D content, Morphica as a 3D printer vendor, AM machine users who build the parts and customers who will enjoy the printed object. The innovation of this cooperation lies in the reduction of physical distances exploiting the greatest potential of additive manufacturing: being able to send an object virtually in centers equipped with 3D printers. Besides the obvious advantages for all the figures, this cooperation will allow a reduction in transport costs. The Morphica target customer is the professional 3D printing user and specially is made up of figures such as designers, architects, engineers and hobbyists representing the most likely customers. The company offers complementary services to the sale of printing devices. Services include: Together with other partner companies, Morphica is responsible for formulating a comprehensive plan to establish the reference scenario within the framework of the PBF. This includes defining use case 1, developing manufacturing protocols, creating a thorough testing regime, and implementing a meticulous inspection plan. Our major contribution will be the prototyping of the demonstration components of the drone which will then be tested industrially from the point of view of greater (dis)assembly, but also to determine a possible increase in the functionality provided by the sustainable redesign provided by WAVETAILOR (lightweight, rigidity, balance). To demonstrate the capacity of WAVETAILOR’s solutions in increasing sustainability and efficiency of manufacturing of multi-material AM parts and assemblies, in comparison with the reference scenarios at industrially relevant environment level.
