LORTEK is a private Technology Center, located at the Basque Country Region in the north of Spain, is member of the BRTA (Basque Research & Technology Alliance) and cooperative organization integrated into the MONDRAGON Corporation. LORTEK’s staff is composed of 81 employees, 25% of whom are researchers with a doctoral degree. LORTEK is specialized in the digitalization of advanced manufacturing processes and in the development of innovative solutions in digital and smart manufacturing, to respond to the technological and social challenges related to the digital and energy-climate transition. The activity developed by LORTEK is framed within advanced and intelligent manufacturing and has three consolidated research groups in the following areas of knowledge: i) Joining Technologies, ii) Additive Manufacturing Technologies and iii) Digitalization Technologies. LORTEK brings together technologies, knowledge and capabilities applied to different industrial sectors such as machine tools, energy, automotive, railway, aerospace, naval, steel, boilermaking, etc. LORTEK is the leader of WP1 in which the industrial scenario is defined, and have a relevant participation in the WP3, taking the leadership of two tasks: the integration of new multiwavelength laser system and processing head solutions in their DED-LB robotic flexible cell, and the testing of new system functionalities and DED-LB manufacturing process development for multimaterial applications. Finally, in WP6 oversees the validation and demonstration activities related to WAVETAILOR DED-LB solutions: i) cell testing at industrially relevant environment level (TRL6) and ii) system prototype demonstration in operational environment (TRL7).
